Bow, 2024
Cast cement, 4"× 4"× 1"
In hindsight, I once hesitated to adorn my newborn daughter with a bow, fearing it might perpetuate gender stereotypes. Yet, as time has passed, my perspective has shifted.
Now, when I gaze upon that bow in the photo, it transports me back to the overwhelming joy of discovering I was to have a daughter. I vividly recall the exhilarating moment when the nurse's call filled me with happiness, prompting an impulsive shout of joy in the street. Acquiring those bows felt like an expression of love and optimism, a celebration of the remarkable journey ahead.
As I look at my daughter's precious face, I see echoes of my own childhood and memories of my mother. My deepest wish is for her to inherit the resilience and spirit of the women in our family. That bow is more than a mere accessory; it symbolizes female power, and I hope she will wear it proudly.
